sick again poor ben. after getting his very first ear infection the week before last, sophie and i came down with the flu. i held out hope that ben wouldn't get it, too, and he managed to come through reasonably unscathed. he ran a fever for a few days, but he never really came down with it full-blown like sophie, who spent about six days on the couch. finally, yesterday it seemed like we were all finally back to normal, and we even spent a few hours running and playing outdoors. however, this morning when ben woke up he was absolutely covered in a rash. his chest, back, legs, arms, even feet, hands and face. i know it's pretty common for kiddos to get a rash along with a virus, so i wasn't too panicked, but we did put a call into the pediatrician just to check. they didn't seem worried about it at all, especially since it isn't bothering him at all. it seems like it's probably roseola, which sophie had when she was younger, too. it's a virus that is unique in that the rash shows up last - first there is a high fever for a few days, then at the very end is the rash. this makes a lot of sense, because ben was running that fever for awhile. we figured it was the same thing we had, but then he never came down with it... it was probably the roseola all along and we didn't know it. oh - the one downer, though, is that when adam was on the phone asking about the rash, he also mentioned that ben is still having a lot of trouble hearing us. they told us this was normal with the double ear infection, but she did think it was odd that he was still experiencing it nearly two weeks later - so they want to see him again on wednesday morning to take a peek in his ears and make sure that the infection didn't come back. i can't wait until we're all totally healthy again and hopefully we can keep it that way for the rest of the season!
