dear benjamin right now you are upstairs your bed, snuggled with your beloved blue blanket, soundly snoozing away your last few hours as a two-year-old. it's hard to believe that three years ago, you had yet to join our family. i can't imagine life without you. this year has brought some huge milestones for you, including learning to use the potty, moving from a crib to a big boy bed, and taking your first dance class. but the biggest change has been the development of your vocabulary and the way you express your independence. you know so many words now and work so hard to be understood. i am always so impressed by how well you explain yourself - if we don't understand a word the first time, you choose another word or try a description or example. you are very observant and an extremely bright little guy. you like to figure things out on your own and do so well to keep up with your sister and other older kids. you are also an incredibly sweet and kind boy. i love how affectionate you are, giving out hugs to everyone you meet. our neighbor has told us several times how you so often make her day by greeting her with big, warm hugs. you are kind and think of others, sharing your toys and trying to help whenever you can. i so look forward to the next year, to see what new changes you will meet as a three-year-old. i love watching you grow and learn, and i am truly thankful for each and every day that i get to spend with you. i love you, my sweet boy. mama
