dance class

ben has been asking to take a dance class for a long while now - he loves watching sophie's classes and he would love to join in if he could. however, the preschool class that sophie takes has been the youngest class available, and it starts at age 3.5. however - this fall her studio started offering a "mommy and me" class one morning a week. it is just six weeks long, and gives a nice introduction to the dance class atmosphere.

here is the description listed in the studio's fall schedule:

"Mommy and Me is for boys and girls ages 18 mos. to 3 years and their caregivers. There will be a warm up time followed with creative dance, circle games, follow the leader, musical instruments, mat time and other games using props and the special relationship between child and caregiver."

the first class was this morning and ben had a great time. he has been asking and asking when it was going to start, and he jumped out of bed this morning saying, "today i go to my dance class!" he did a great job and had a lot of fun. the class had about 10 kids, and i believe they were all two years old... ben and one other girl have birthdays next month, so i think they are the oldest. he liked being a part of the group, and he did really well following the teacher's instructions. he can't wait to go back next week!
