movie night at the drive in

we've been waiting all summer to take the kiddos to the drive in, but it hadn't worked out until last night... and it ended up being perfect! it's darker a little earlier now, so the movie didn't start quite so late, the weather was perfect for snuggling, and there were no bugs at all. we got sophie and ben into their pajamas before we left the house, created a whole big bed of blankets and pillows in the back of the van where the third row of seats goes, and loaded up on snacks. we got parked and settled about 20 minutes before the movie started, which was just the right amount of time for the kids to jump around the van and use up some of their excited energy. when the movie started, they did really well to sit with us and watch for the most part. they got up and wandered out to the back area occasionally, but i think they both actually watched most of the movie.

sophie and i both fell asleep at the beginning of the second movie - but when i woke up about half way through, ben was still wide awake watching with adam! it was nearly 10:30! he was starting to get sleepy though, and actually asked to go home at one point, so i woke sophie and got them both buckled up so we could head out.

it was a lot of fun and they both had a great time. i look forward to taking them again next summer!
