potty update

ben is doing fabulously with the potty! he has been in underwear during the day for over a week now - no diapers allowed except during naps and bedtime. he's even in undies at home now (rather than running the house commando) and does well to get them down and get to the potty when he needs to.

i was most nervous about car rides, since from our house it takes at least 20 minutes to get just about anywhere. we do have a small potty to keep in the back of the car, but there's still the matter of finding a place to pull over and getting him all unbuckled when an urgent need strikes. he's done so well, though. on friday, we took a family trip to chuck e. cheese and did some errands in the area. he did so well in his undies until the very end when we were waiting in the parking lot while adam ran into a store... he did tell me he had to go, but had a little accident before i could get him to the potty. luckily we know enough to travel with a change of pants.

since then, though, we've made several trips out and about. on saturday we checked out a local farm and sugar shack in celebration of maine maple sunday and took a little ride in a horse-pulled wagon. sunday we did our usual weekly grocery trip. and today ben and i were out for the entire time sophie was in preschool running errands - that was about 4 hours for ben to be in and out of the car and stores. he had to pee quite a few times (there's definitely a novelty to peeing in new bathrooms right now), but he always told me with plenty of time and was so proud of himself.

i think we're really on track now. he even woke up this morning with only a slightly wet diaper and then peed a ton on the potty right away. and his nap diaper was totally dry. we're wicked proud of him, and i think the end of diapers is finally in sight!
