he loves his sister today was sophie's birthday, and it was also her first day at preschool. when we dropped her off, ben didn't really understand why we were going back to the car without her. he fussed a little bit, but i tried explaining again why she was there, and assured him that we'd be back in a few hours to pick her up. we did some grocery shopping and then hung around the house for a bit. when it was time to go, i told him to come get his coat on and he came running out, yelling "pick up sophie now! time to pick up sophie!" he really missed her. when we got to the school, we had to wait outside with the other parents while the kiddos got their coats on and lined up to come out. he was just bursting with excitement and kept pointing to the door, asking "pick up sophie? sophie in there!" he gave her a big hug and kiss when she came out. i know he's going to enjoy having some one-on-one time while she's at school, but it's so sweet to see how much he missed her while she was gone. they really are such great, caring siblings.
