thanksgiving weekend on friday we went out to breakfast with my grandmother, mom and tara... then spent of the rest of the day at home. on saturday morning, auntie renee came over for a visit with cousin noah. the kids had fun together and it was a nice chance to sit and chat. it's great having cousins so close in age.
and then that afternoon, we went to dinner at my dad's house and got to visit with jessica, atilla and cousin rigel. again, seeing the three kids playing together was a fun treat. we also did a lot of playing with grandpa's new wii, which sophie thought was absolutely amazing. ben was really too small to play, but he helped daddy a few times and he loved just running around with one of the remotes and pretending to play. yesterday we had another day hanging around just the four of us. we did our grocery shopping in the morning and made a quick trip to walmart. sophie heard over the store-wide announcements that santa claus was there, so we made a quick stop for the kids to sit with him and ask for their gifts. sophie asked for a leapster and benjamin wants some new blocks. ben was a little apprehensive at first and let sophie do the talking, but afterward he was in awe when he talked about seeing santa. we spent the rest of the afternoon laying low and then the kids helped me make english muffin pizzas for dinner. ben loves to help cook, so this was a perfect meal for him. it was a really nice weekend and we loved having adam home for so long - it was practically like being on vacation. i love this time of year! it's hard not seeing everyone at each holiday, but it becomes too much sometimes. i don't want the kiddos to have their childhood memories of the holidays be about sitting in the car all day, you know? we still managed to get a lot of visiting done over the long weekend, we just have to remember that we don't have to do everything in one day!
