birthday party

ben had a fabulous time at his party yesterday. it was a little chaotic, as those events tend to be, but it was nice. we had a little delay at the beginning, when adam had to help my sister with some car trouble, but we all visited and the cousins played together until he and brianna arrived. then ben opened his presents, we sang happy birthday, and served monkey cupcakes. it really was a lot of fun to have so many kiddos running around and i know ben loved that part. he got a lot of great gifts - a really nice mix of toys, clothing and books. he liked everything - he's played with all of the toys, slept with his new sock monkey, read a few of the books, and even wore his new winter vest when we went to the grocery store today!

even though it was busy and we didn't get to sit and visit with everyone enough, we all really appreciated all of the family who came to help us celebrate with ben - he really loves people and it was a special day for him to be surrounded with so many people who love him!

oh - and just because, i wanted to share a picture of the monkey cupcakes i made for the party. they weren't perfect, but i think they turned out pretty darned cute - and with how much they amused ben, they were well worth the effort!
