ballet fan

it is the first week of the month, so today was "watch week" at sophie's ballet class. typically, adam is home at the time of her class so one of us takes her and one stays home with ben. but adam's been away on business this week, so i knew i would be bringing ben to the studio. on a regular week, he does fine to stay in the waiting room with me, where he has the freedom to walk around a bit and can make some noise. i was a little nervous about having him sit in the actual class.

he was such a big boy - i was so proud! i actually decided to bring his booster seat with me (the one we use at the kitchen table), and i'm so glad i did. he was buckled in, so he wasn't tempted to run and join the class, and i brought along the snap-on tray we use when we travel so he could have some cheerios and do some coloring. for the first full ten minutes all he did was sit and stare at the dancers. he was totally mesmerized. eventually he got bored and wanted his snack and some paper and crayons, but even then he was quiet. he stopped frequently to watch, and would point to sophie and call out her name.

when the class was done, he clapped and clapped - and as soon as i let him down from his seat, he ran over to sophie and gave her the biggest hug. he was proud of his big sister. it was pretty sweet.
