Lilypie Fourth Birthday tickers
8.09.2008

My name is . . .

Well, he can't quite put together full sentences yet, but he finally learned to say "Benjamin" two days ago. It was so cute. We had been watching the slide show Aimee made for Sophie's first birthday and then decided to show her Ben's as well. By this time, Ben had taken an interest in watching as well. We were pointing out where he was in the pictures, when all of the sudden he started saying his name and pointing with us. Aimee practiced with him later in the day and he was doing it really well.

Unfortunately, like with all his words, he only repeats them when he wants to do so. Sometimes when you ask him to perform, he shakes his head vehemently (although we have found that as in all parts of life, little bribes can help).

Later that same day, when we were at dinner, I passed him something to eat and he said "thank you." It was a little garbled, but definitely understandable. We have been trying to get him to say this for a while, but this was unprompted. It really is amazing how many words he understands, even if he doesn't use them yet.
