a sad day my grandfather passed away this morning. it wasn't unexpected, but is still very difficult. he was a wonderful, brilliant man, who fought a long, hard battle with alzheimer's disease for the past 15 or so years of his life. although he hadn't been himself for the last few years, his presence will be greatly missed by all of us. it's hard for me that my children will never know him, but we will share memories of him and remember his life as he would want to be remembered - not as the ailing alzheimer's patient, but the hard-working, intelligent, inventive, loving family man that he truly was.
we'll miss you grandpa.
