happy 4th of july!

we all went to milton mills yesterday to spend the day with my dad and catherine. sophie had an offer to ride in the parade with catherine, so we got there early enough for that. i carried ben around in a mei tai on my back and he happily watched the parade.

when we got back to their house, the kiddos ran around the yard and played with their little cousin rigel before we had a bbq lunch. ben played on the new swing set with sophie and really liked the sidewalk chalk, but we had a hard time convincing him that it was only for the driveway; he kept running around trying to tag all of the outdoor furniture - i think we may have a little vandal on our hands!

he also had some fun playing in rigel's new little pool. all three kiddos donned their swimsuits for a little dip in the water and they all enjoyed it. rigel and ben were particularly cute as they were figuring the whole pool concept out. they also had a little bonding time while we tried to get them to take a nap. we mistakenly set their pack n' plays up next to each other inside the house and they spent the entire time playing together. one would stand up and peek over, then the other one would. they were chattering away and keeping everyone pretty entertained as we tried to peek in at them. neither one got a nap, but they did get some "just the boys" quiet time, which was pretty adorable.

ben was exhausted from the long day and no nap - he slept soundly on the ride home and was ready for bed as soon as dinner was finished.
