loving the outdoors

we've been spending a lot of time outside lately. the weather has been gorgeous. we raked the fenced-in play area and brought out most of the outdoor toys that had been away in the basement. ben loves just running around. he also likes pushing around his little lawn mower that i just bought him (sophie has a wheel barrow and they were having some sharing issues, so i decided to get another toy that they could push, so they'd each have one to use at the same time) and kicking the soccer ball around. he likes digging in the dirt and going down the little toddler slide we have. one thing he does that's really cute is whenever he knows we're getting ready to go out, he goes to the door and gets his outdoor shoes. he wears really soft-soled shoes most of the time, but while the snow was melting it was a little muddy and we put him in some regular sneakers for outdoors. now he knows those are for going outside and he makes sure we put them on him before we go out. he's always paying attention.
