17 months old our little guy is 17 months old today. he is acting more and more like a little boy and less like a baby every day. even though he still doesn't talk a whole lot, he is communicating all the time. he shakes his head yes and no and answers any questions we ask him. he follows directions very well - he often goes to get his coat when we're ready to leave or helps put toys away when we're picking up. one thing he's started doing this month that is too cute happens in the morning when we go to get him out of his crib. we'll go in and he'll get all excited and say hi. then he'll pick up his teddy bear that he sleeps with, give him a kiss, say "night night" and tuck him in with a blanket. then he'll stand up and reach to be picked up. how sweet is that? he is also always surprising me with his independence. he's often content to play on his own and will find ways to occupy himself. when we were outdoors over the weekend cleaning up the yard, he was happy to do his own thing... sometimes staying near us, sometimes going into another corner to play by himself. being outdoors in the past few days really showcases how much he has grown over the winter. watching him run around and really play, we see how much he's learned and changed since the last time we were outside. he's growing up so quickly and sometimes i wish he would just slow down a bit, but it really is a fun age and i love seeing him develop and learn new exciting things.
