15 month appointment

benjamin had his 15 month check-up with dr. brooks this afternoon. first up were the measurements with the nurse - he's weighing in at 19 pounds, 14 ounces and is 30.5 inches long. that puts him in the 3rd percentile for weight and 25th percentile for height.

it was a pretty quick appointment and she said he's looking great. she wasn't worried about his weight anymore - he's maintained in roughly the same spot for awhile now and is developing just fine. i told her how he eats like a pig (this kid can seriously put it away - he often eats more than sophie at mealtimes) and she said it's just his metabolism. adam was the same way as a kid, so i guess it makes sense. we also talked a little bit about sophie's cold because ben has developed a runny nose. she said he might get it full-blown like she did, but he might escape with just the runny nose. here's to hoping its the latter.

she asked some other questions about his development (can he point to some of his body parts when asked, does he feed himself with his hands, etc) and he's right on track there. i asked a little about his talking, because it seems that sophie was talking a lot more by this point... but she said they look for 3-6 words at this age, so he's fine there, too.

he got two shots this time, but he did great. he cried out for a minute after the second one, which the nurse said would sting a lot, but then was fine. he's a very brave boy. and his next appointment at 18 months is shot-free, so that will be nice!
