chuck e. cheese party our neighbor rachel had her birthday the day before sophie's and she turned 4. she had her party last night at chuck e. cheese. it was so much fun! the kids really loved it. this is the first time we've been since ben has been walking, so it was a whole new world for him. unfortunately, adam had to work late and couldn't come with us. it was a little tricky keeping up with both of them, particularly when sophie really wanted to be on the go, so ben ended up in the sling more than he would have otherwise. but he was happy just to watch all the craziness of the other kids. we did spent a bit of time in the toddler area, too, where ben could get down and play. he loved it! he did some climbing and went down the slide several times by himself. he needed a little help getting seated at the top (or i think he'd have just gone down head first, haha) but he went down on his own. he laughed and thought it was great! there were also a few little rides that he went on with sophie... she made sure that anytime she got on one, ben could go with her. she held right onto him and talked to him the whole time - she really took good care of him. he even went once by himself, but he liked it better when he was with sophie. he did great at dinner, too. the other kids were all older and sat at one end of the table with a special birthday set-up. i put ben in a highchair and sat next to him, but i did put him right next to the other kids, so i think he felt included, too. i brought his food with us (the other kids had pizza), but i did let him have a small piece of birthday cake for dessert, which he devoured pretty quickly. he was so patient and happy the entire time - i was very proud of him.
