14 months old benjamin is really trying to be a big kid these days. he works so hard to keep up with his sister, chasing her around the house (or running from her, occasionally) and wants to play however she is playing. he is also getting so independent and plays very well on his own. he often walks down to the playroom even if no one else is in there and entertains himself. he's particularly fond of the kitchen and does lots of pretend cooking there. i was talking with my stepmother the other day at sophie's birthday party while we were watching ben at the kitchen. he is very observant and knows exactly how to use the different pieces - he uses the potholder correctly, gets the different spoons and such to stir the pots and puts the "dirty" pieces in the sink. she was impressed by how he plays like a much older kiddo. he is generally pretty quiet, but he's always paying attention. he loves to be on the go and it's rare that i get any snuggle time with him during the day, but i'm lucky that he gets much more cuddly when he gets tired, and i get some great love when he nurses just before bed. other developments this past month: he's mastered the "more" sign now, using the actual sign now instead of a semi-clapping motion he was using before; he had his 4th haircut last week; he says "yum!" when he takes bites of food, particularly if someone else is feeding it to him; he helps when getting dressed by picking his feet up when its time to put socks or shoes on and pulls his arms in and out of his shirts; he likes to "cheers" with his cup at dinner time; and about a million other things - it seems like he changes a little bit more each day!
