First Birthday

Ben,

Today we celebrated your first birthday. We got you up this morning and wished you a happy birthday (Sophia even sang to you). Then, while you had some milk, Sophia and I made breakfast. We had mushroom and cheese omelets with toast. You were very excited to be able to eat everything we were having, and you cleaned off your plate very quickly.

After breakfast we all got dressed and then you opened your cards and presents. Sophia made you a beautiful card and she was so excited to give it to you. She also got you a couple of board books that she picked out herself (a birthday one and a bath one) and you liked them both very much. Mama and Daddy also each got you a book that had special meaning to us.

Later in the morning we went to visit Santa Claus and we got a cute picture of both you and Sophia sitting on his lap. Then we did a little shopping and Mama got you the cutest sweater and tie for the holidays.

We spent the afternoon playing at home (you and Sophia had a blast playing together in the play room) and then had some chili for dinner, which is one of your favorites because you love the beans. After dinner we got ready for bed. You brushed your teeth like a big boy and gave Sophia and me snuggles before going back downstairs to be nursed before going to bed.

We all had a fun day and I was so glad to be able to spend it with you. It is hard to believe that my little man is already a year old. You have developed so much in such a short time. Even though a part of me wishes that you would always stay little, I look forward to getting to know you as you grow into your own person. I love you very much.

Love, Daddy
