apple picking

we took the kids apple picking today for the first time this season. we'd spent a lot more time up at the orchard this year, picking strawberries, blueberries and raspberries over the summer, but it i am always taken by just how beautiful it is up there at this time of year. i love it. 

ben did great. i carried him in the sling most of the time and let him chew on his own little apple. but i did lift him up to pick his own apples and he got down on the ground with his sister for a few minutes. he seemed to enjoy himself - or at least he really liked the apple he was eating! just for comparison's sake... here's "ben" at the apple orchard last year at this time...
   

unbelievable isn't it?? oh - and a special thank you to auntie katy for the awesome apple hat! she sure got her money's worth from that purchase - this is the 3rd fall in a row that we've used it!
