coordination

we've been noticing a huge change in ben's coordination and motor skills lately. he's doing so well on his feet - standing all the time and cruising around on the furniture. he even stands while just holding onto smooth vertical surfaces - like the wall. we even took out sophie's old push-walker toy and let ben check it out this evening. basically, it has wheels and he pushes it and walks along behind it. he was doing great - walking straight across the room! his balance is really improving, too, and he will even let go of my hands and stand by himself for a couple of seconds before relatively gracefully lowering himself down to a seated position.

he's also nearly figured out how to clap - he brings his hands together but doesn't quite open them up to make a real clap yet... but it can't be far now. and he's started waving, too. also, his fine motor skills, like picking up small pieces of food from his highchair (or rocks and twigs off the ground, haha), are really great. he's been using his thumb and forefinger in a very deliberate pincer-grip for a long while now, but it's just impressive to see how much better he gets at it each day. it's amazing to watch all of the things he's doing now. this age is so much fun because the changes are literally happening every day.
