messy, messy, messy

typically, we feed ben his dinner after we have ours (sophie is usually still finishing up)... he's happy to sit in his high chair, play, and watch us. however, last night he was overtired and getting impatient, so i decided to let him try to feed himself. he's always grabbing for the spoon and trying to "help," so i knew he would enjoy it. he did a pretty good job - he used his hands a lot, but also managed to use the little baby utensil (not quite a spoon, more like a scoop for babies learning to feed themselves) pretty well. he also did a great job of painting himself and his entire highchair... he was one big, sticky mess by the end of it, and he required an immediate transfer to the tub, but that's all part of the learning process, right?
