big day!

ben had two major motor accomplishments today. first, he got into a sitting position all by himself, and second, he pulled himself up to a stand all on his own.

he's been sitting without support for quite awhile now, but hasn't been able to get there on his own - usually that doesn't happen for awhile still - but for the past week or so he's been getting so close. today i was sitting on the floor playing with him... he was crawling around and reaching for toys and before i knew it, he was sitting up and playing with them.

then this evening, we were on the floor again playing with a big block toy, and i helped ben stand up to it so he could reach the top better. he did great holding himself up and later even crawled over to it and got up on his knees to reach the top. i called adam in to see, impressed that he got way up on his knees like that, and when i turned around he was standing up! he's not super stable yet and certainly needs someone behind him to catch if need be, but he's getting better each time.

he's just getting so big. i can't believe how strong he is and how he seems to be literally growing up right before our eyes. we're so proud of him, but really, i think we'd be ok if he weren't in quite such a hurry all the time!
