happy mother's day to me! we got up this morning and had a nice breakfast (broccoli and cheese omlet, per sophie's request that every meal have broccoli and cheese in it) and then went outside to do a bit of work on our fence project. ben was taking a nap, and sophie was surprisingly well-behaved and stayed with us and "helped" when she could. after coming in, cleaning up, and getting showered and dressed, we all headed to my mom's for an afternoon cookout with my mom, sisters, and grandparents. sophie had a blast playing with everyone and i got a nice chance to relax on the lawn with ben for bit while he explored the grass. he didn't even try to eat it too many times. we popped in to adam's parents' house on the way home for a quick hello and then came home for a quiet dinner.
it was a really nice day. gorgeous weather. great company. i got a beautiful handmade card from adam and the kids (sophie worked hard with stickers and markers for this one!), lots of hugs and kisses, and sophie showered me with "happy mother's day, mama"s all day. i'm a lucky woman.
