growing so fast

sometimes i look at this journal and feel like ben isn't getting the same attention that sophie did... like, i imagine them comparing their journals years from now and sophie teasing ben because hers has so much more in it! but i know that sophie's first experiences were also *our* first experiences as parents. we don't need to make a big deal over every "first" like we did with sophie - his firsts, yes, but not so much with ours. and i think in some ways that gives us more time to focus on just being with ben and enjoying him as he is. i do want to be sure i record all of the special memories - but i also know that having two kiddos takes more time and i'd rather spent what time we have actually making the memories.

that being said, i do feel as though i've been a bit negligent with my writing lately. i need to remember to take a few minutes at the end if the day now and then to record all of the little things... things i'll want to look back on later... things that ben will appreciate when he's older, maybe even when he's a parent himself. i treasure the journals we've kept for our children and am proud we'll have something so personal to pass along to them when they're older.

benjamin is getting so big. i can't believe how quickly time has gone by. he will be four months old in two days! he's such a great baby. he's so strong and is really thriving. i can't believe some of the things he's doing now. he sits so well with just the tiniest support; he rolls over with no problems; he grabs out for toys, holds them, and is even able to get them into his mouth; he smiles and coos and experiments with his voice all the time now; he is so attentive and watches everything around him. he really loves his sister and loves to just look at her whenever she is near him; he likes to be tickled and laughs with me when i make silly noises and rub his belly. we are so blessed to have him in our family. there are moments that get hectic and it is hard work taking care of two little ones who are still so dependant - but it is so worth it. moments when i am alone and cuddled with my son (moments like right now, when he is soundly sleeping on my chest, his warm little head tucked under my chin), i truly can't imagine my life without him.
