postpartum belly pic

i had my postpartum appointment today. dr. o'hare was very sweet when i saw her - lots of hugs and congratulations again. it was fun to show ben off to the nurses and everyone at the office. everything is fine with me. the appointment was very quick. i have now lost nearly all of my pregnancy weight. with sophie it was never a big deal because i didn't gain much, but this time i gained a "normal" 35 pounds and was nervous about getting it back off again. i only have four pounds left, though - at not even two months postpartum, i feel pretty good about that. hopefully i'll be able to lose the rest quickly and then work on losing more.

on that note, i thought it would be interesting to take one last belly picture to compare... you know, show the "damage," so to speak. i actually am kind of amazed looking from the 41 week picture to the current one. sure, there's still a bit to go before i look like i did at the very beginning, but its amazing what our bodies can do. even though i am only a few pounds away from my starting weight, some of my more fitted jeans still aren't quite comfortable yet - and i can tell that its because my hips are still a little more separated than they should be - and of course there's the bit of squishiness in the belly that ben left behind. but overall, i'm just so in awe of how the human body can accommodate pregnancy like it does.
