41 week appointment we had our appointment this afternoon. it was very quick. she measured my belly, which was actually a little bit less this time because the baby has dropped down some. he's still a bit high, but that's fine - he'll drop down once some good labor contractions start. there was a little glitch when she checked his heartrate and it was a little lower than she'd have liked to see (110's), so she sent us over to labor and delivery to be monitored for a bit. she didn't make it sound like an emergency or anything, but it was a little stressful for adam and i on the drive over (which, thankfully, is only about a half a minute from the doctor's office)... but as soon as we got up to l&d and got hooked up to monitors, we could see that he was just fine. his heart rate stayed mostly in the 150 range while we were there. i was hooked up to monitors for a little less than an hour. they said the baby looked fantastic and we were free to go. since we didn't need to be admitted right away, they went ahead and scheduled our induction for first thing in the morning. we need to be there at 6:00 and we'll get started then. my mom and brianna are going to be coming, too, so as soon as they drop tara off for her bus around 7:00, they'll be heading to the hospital to join us. of course, there's always the chance that labor will kick in tonight sometime (the nurse made sure that i would call if the contractions got more regular or painful, because at 5cm she didn't want me to wait very long to come in)... but now that i've been home and relaxing for a bit, things have seemed to calm down and i'm sure we'll make it until morning. but it's nice to know that things are starting to happen on their own - and the doctor said that at 5cm, we wouldn't really need much of an induction anyhow. they'll start some pitocin to get things started and help ben move down a bit more, but they might be able to stop it once labor is established. that would be nice. i'm getting really anxious now!
