a very generous friend...

i think only once, in sophie's journal, have i mentioned the message board that i belong to online. it is a private board formed by a group of women who met when we were all pregnant together and due in january of '05. so we've "known" each other for about two and a half years now. the board has been private now for over a year and a half and since then the group has become incredibly tight-knit. it isn't just discussions about babies, but about our families, lives, jobs, and so forth. its an amazingly supportive group of women and people i consider true friends.

anyhow, we have all shared mailing addresses and have done holiday card exchanges and gift exchanges at various holidays. today while sophie and i were getting ready to go get the mail, i opened the door and saw a package sitting on the porch. imagine my surprise when i picked it up and saw that it was addressed to "benjamin" (his first piece of mail!) and had a return address in california. sophie and i opened it up right away, and it was a great little present from a woman named lauren from the board. the gift was wrapped up so nicely with a little bear for ben and some pencils for sophie on the outside... and inside was a sweet microfleece one-piece outfit for our little guy.

i was so touched by how thoughtful it was! it was such a nice surprise and made me feel so blessed to have such nice people in my life.
