the to-do list the list of things we need to get done before ben arrives is getting shorter and shorter all the time. today brianna came over for a few hours to watch sophie while adam and i tackled some chores that we've been putting off because its impossible to do them with sophie... we cleaned and organized the basement (not completely - but it's so much better than it was) and took the air conditioner from our bedroom in for the winter. as for other little things that are left to do, it feels like we're getting closer and closer to being done. really, we're ready now - there are just some little things that i'd like to have taken care of - but nothing major is left. on my to-buy list: baby book, a few packages of diapers (right now we have just one package of newborn size and one package of size ones), a package of diapers to put with sophie's bag for when we're in the hospital and she's with adam's parents, a phone card for the hospital, and an extra wide baby gate to fit across the doorway between the living room and kitchen (i want some way to keep sophie in the living room for times when i'm nursing ben, etc, and won't be able to jump right up and chase her). on the to-do list: get directions for my mom to the hospital, finish packing my bag, cook some frozen meals for our first week or two back home, and gather a few addresses for birth announcements (i have the list all ready to go, and i actually already made the template for the announcement - i'll just have to add pictures and it will be ready to print). oh - and we want to take some "pretty" belly pictures, too... not just for comparison's sake, but some more artsy ones. all in all, its certainly feeling more manageable. the things i need to buy will pretty much be wiped out in one shopping trip and the stuff that's left to be done aren't very time consuming. i'm starting to get more and more excited about the idea of having little ben here with us soon enough. i've only really been able to think about it in the abstract until now, but it's so close now that i'm actually envisioning holding a brand new baby and having a new member of our family in the house. it's scary, but it's very exciting.
