a kidless weekend sophie had an overnight with adam's parents on saturday, so adam and i spent the weekend together as just the two of us for the last time in probably a year or more. sophie was 16 months old before she spent the night away from us, and i don't expect it will be any different with little ben. we dropped sophie off with nana late saturday morning, then we did a little shopping together and stopped for lunch at the olive garden. it's been awhile since we've been able to relax in a restaurant, not trying to keep sophie entertained. it was nice. then we stopped at the grocery store and came home. i took a nice *hour long* bath in the soaker tub (even though the tiling isn't finished, adam convinced me to use it finally... i'd been holding out until it was totally done, but i've been so sore and it's sitting right there ready to be used. i'm glad i listened to him - it's been great!), sipping some chilled sparkling cider, listening to the stereo loudly, and doing some guilty pleasure reading (people magazine). i felt like a new woman after that. then we had dinner and watched a movie together. it was a wonderfully relaxing evening. sophie did great and had a fun time with her grandparents. they brought her back just before noon today and we've had a low-key day coloring and playing with her. we missed sophie a ton while she was gone, but it was nice to have that time alone before the baby comes. and it was also nice to give sophie one last one-night trial run before she's with adam's parents for our hospital stay. i'll be nervous about her being away from us that long no matter what, but it was reassuring to see how well she did once again and to know that she will be having a fun time and getting some special attention just for her while we are getting to know her new brother.
