weekend of camping we spent this weekend camping with adam's parents in freeport at a campground right on the ocean. being labor day weekend, it was really our last shot to get out and enjoy a camping trip this year. unfortunately, adam has to work tomorrow morning, so we just spent two nights (friday and saturday) and came home this morning - but with sophie, it was probably the perfect length for the trip. the weather report was a little uncertain, but the rain held off until just as we were getting ready to leave. even though it was a little chilly (definitely sweatshirt weather), it stayed pretty nice while we were there. i love this early fall weather, anyhow, so i really enjoyed it. being as pregnant as i am, i think it was much easier to camp in the cooler weather than it would have been in the hot days of summer. of course, being a couple of months further along now made it more interesting in terms of sleeping in a tent, etc, but it all worked out well. i wouldn't say i was comfortable sleeping on the ground, but honestly i wasn't any less comfortable than i've been sleeping anywhere. we did a lot of walking yesterday (there was a really nice trail along the ocean), and i'm probably more sore today because of it - but i'm glad we went. everyone was more than accomodating, helping chase sophie around and letting me sit and relax some. i even got up before everyone else on saturday morning and read a book for about an hour by myself... that was really nice! and adam's mom and i snuck off by ourselves for an hour or two and went into downtown freeport to visit some outlets while adam and his dad stayed at the campground with sophie. i won't say that camping while 7 1/2 months pregnant was exactly the same as camping at any other time, but i'm certainly glad we were able to go. we all enjoyed ourselves and look forward to going again next year with a little benjamin in tow!
