getting closer to ready we're finally getting caught up on our list of to-dos and to-buys that we wanted to tackle before ben arrives. once the nursery got painted, i felt like that was such a big accomplishment that i took a bit of a break in gathering the other things to finish up the room. last week we got a big load of noah's outgrown clothes from adam's brother and sister-in-law (thanks craig and renee!), so we spent a few nights last week after sophie was asleep sorting through those and figuring out what little things we still had left to buy. we had already done a little bit of clothing shopping (we wanted to get some new things especially for him) - so with that and what we're borrowing, this kid is going to be very well dressed! we also went through all of the bigger sized things (some 3-6 stuff from noah, as well all of the things we've picked up for him on end-of-season clearance for next spring and summer) and got that all organized and packed in totes and stored in his closet. i'm a real organization freak, and i love to know that kind of stuff is all taken care of. we also needed a few nursery items - so adam, sophie and i took a trip to babies r us and target over the weekend to pick up some of what we needed. there were a few things we needed because the stuff we used with sophie was pink (bassinet sheet and car seat headrest) and then just a few things to finish up the nursery - like some baskets for his shelves to hold little things like hats and shoes. we also picked up a his coming-home outfit, too. on monday i ordered the new pouch sling that i wanted. i love the ring sling i had with sophie, but its a lot of fabric and a bit overwhelming for a newborn - i didn't really get the hang of it and start using it regularly until she was a couple months old. plus, this way i'll have a choice depending on what i'm using it for, where we're going, what we're doing, how i want to hold him, etc. i chose a fleece fabric this time, too, which i thought would be nice for a winter baby. then yesterday sophie and i went out to pick up some fabric to re-cover the nursing pillow that i used so much with her. i have a boppy, too, and used it a bit, but i the pillow that i really loved and used most often was just a simple bracket shaped pillow that i'd been given by adam's sister. i covered it with some pink fleece for sophie - and besides the fact that i'd like something other than pink for ben, the fabric is pretty well worn and could use replacing anyhow. i got out my sewing machine last night and hopefully today i'll get it all recovered (and maybe add a little stuffing while i'm at it - like i said, its been very well worn!). i have just a few small things left to get. i really want a nursing stool - something i never had with sophie but always wished i'd gotten. downstairs is all set with the big comfy chair and ottoman in the living room, but upstairs i never found the right set-up. i liked using the glider, but didn't like the gliding ottoman that goes with it. i wanted something stable, and i like the idea of the inclined stool to keep your knees at just the right angle. that is next on the checklist. other than that, its just diapers and little essentials like that we need to stock up on. wow - i can't believe we're almost ready to bring this little guy home. i'm really starting to get anxious now!
