getting anxious i've been kind of obsessing this weekend about getting things ready for ben's arrival. there are things that i know don't need to be done yet, but i feel like i need to do them now. i want to have my bag all packed for the hospital (and sophie's bag for spending that time with adam's parents), as well as getting the house ready, car seat in the car, etc. part of it is that i've always been a planner and i like to feel on top of things, but i also know that a big part of it is that i want to be able to do something that i have control over. i'm starting to get really anxious about everything - about when ben is going to decide to arrive, about how sophie is going to react and adjust to have a new baby around the house, about actually having two little ones to care for... the list goes on. by handling all of the little details that i *can* control, its making me feel a little more calm and collected. adam probably thinks i'm nuts, but i think he understands, too. last night i made (or finished) a bunch of lists... a phone list to bring to the hospital with us of people we're going to want to call, a list of last-minute items i'll want to add to my bag before we leave, a list of sophie's last-minute packing, a list of things around the house that we need to get done. really there isn't much left - but we do have to bring the bassinet upstairs and get that set up, as well as get the car seat bases into our cars (if not installed just yet, at least have the seat in the back of the van so we'd have it if we needed it). i also want to do some more cleaning and organizing around the house and have some casseroles put together and frozen so that we'll have a few pre-made meals for our first week or so at home. it is really getting close now. we have 6 weeks left until my due date... and really, a pregnancy is considered full-term at 37 weeks - that is just three weeks away! i don't anticipate that he'll come that early, but a week or two wouldn't be out of the question. i want the entire experience (and transition, especially for sophie) to go as smoothly as possible, so i just want to make sure all of the little details that i can prepare for and anticipate are taken care of. it's so close!
