32 week appointment i had my appointment this morning... i'm really almost 33 weeks now (tomorrow), but we typically have appointments on friday and i had to push this one past the weekend because we had plans last friday. anyway, everything is looking good still. baby ben is measuring just fine and i'm doing just fine, too. blood pressure and weight gain and all of that stuff are perfectly normal. the doctor and i did talk a bit about how sore and uncomfortable i've been. it hasn't been terrible or anything, but it is surprising how different i feel compared to my pregnancy with sophie. the baby feels really low and puts a lot of pressure on my pelvic area and lower back. the doctor explained that second (and later) pregnancies are simply so much different from first because your uterine and abdominal muscles have already been stretched out. because of that, they just don't hold up as well as they did the first time - you feel baby's movement earlier, you feel contractions earlier and more often, and you feel the pressure from the baby a lot sooner. as i told the doctor, i don't remember feeling quite the way i do now until i was actually laboring with sophie. it's certainly nothing unbearable, but it is strange. other than that, it was a super quick appointment. just a quick measure of my belly and a listen to the heartbeat (which was at 154 bpm today) and we were out of there. when i was leaving, i scheduled my next visit and then they scheduled a couple beyond that, too, just to make sure i could get the dates and times that were convenient for me (as things get harder to schedule toward the end when you come in so much more often)... i go back in two weeks - and then it's every week after that! crazy!
