and the verdict is... in case you haven't noticed the shift in colors here, let me announce that we are officially expecting a little boy! the ultrasound tech wouldn't give us 100% certainty (which they'll never do), but she said that she could see what she thought were boy parts and couldn't see any of the markers she would look for in a girl. the cord was between his legs, so it made it a little trickier to get a good shot (and we couldn't get one of those cool look-at-my-goods shots some people get). we're awfully excited to know. like we've said before, neither of us cared one way or the other - but we sure wanted to know! one good thing about having a boy is that we had already settled on a name. we were having a really hard time coming up with a girl's name - so it feels good to not have to worry about that now. our little guy is going to be benjamin paul, named for his two grandpas. other than gender news, the ultrasound was pretty quick. all of the measurements were great. the heartrate was 154, the measurements were all right on track, and he is now weighing in at 11 ounces, which is in the 59th percentile. we weren't that impressed with the tech, but there wasn't really anything we could do about that. she was really rushed (they were running about 1/2 hour behind) and was also trying to talk with a student who was there with her - so she did very little explaining to us or pointing anything out. she also didn't play around and get any fun shots for us, like the profile or anything... so unfortunately we don't really have any new pictures to show. but it was great to see the baby again and to see that everything is growing well and is nice and healthy; that is afterall the most important thing. now we get to go do some shopping and buy little blue things!
