20 week appointment i went in for my 20 week appointment this afternoon. unfortunately, because of a work emergency, adam was home super late from work this morning and had to sleep this afternoon, so he wasn't able to come with us. it was actually a very quick appointment, so i'm glad he chose to stay home and sleep. sophie came with me and did great... i was a little worried about what she'd do while the doctor was checking my belly and listening for the heartbeat, but i sat her down in one of the chairs with her cheerios and a sippy cup, and she was a big girl and just sat still and waited. i was pretty proud of how well she behaved. like i said, the appointment was quick. everything is looking fine. she said the ultrasound report was great and that the afp results had come back normal. she also mentioned that i'd done fine with the glucose test i took a few weeks back. this office is a "no news is good news" kind of place, so since i hadn't heard from them i assumed it was fine... but it was still good to hear it. i will be tested again at 28 weeks, which is when everyone is normally tested. its nice to not have to worry about that for another two months. i also mentioned our dissapointment with the ultrasound - not to complain, because certainly it wasn't their fault and of course it was far more important to know that the baby is healthy than to have some good pictures, but just so they would know. she said that i was by far not the first person to mention those kinds of problems. she really did sympathize and said that they have been talking with the hospital to see if, at least with the patients they send over, they can try to be more compassionate and provide a service more comparable to what patients receive if they have their ultrasound done in the office. i felt better having said something, as she said that the only way to get things fixed is to keep letting them know. we'll go back in another 4 weeks for a regular checkup... i still can't believe how quickly things seem to be flying by!
