Such a surreal experience! Finally. It feels like I've been waiting an eternity, but I finally got the chance to hear our new baby's heart beat. On the way to the appointment, Aimee was talking about how she was getting a little nervous because it had been a few weeks since someone had last checked on the baby. I completely agree with her. It's hard not being able to feel the baby move and know for sure things are ok. It feels like such a long time before we will find out if we are having a girl or a boy. Both Aimee and I would be happy with either one, but we are both anxious to find out so we can stop referring to the baby as such, and start using a name. For some reason the whole experience becomes more incredible and real with each step of the pregnancy. Hearing the heart beat is one of the first big events. Finding out the sex is another major one. And of course, feeling movement is the ultimate step besides birth itself. I really want to make sure both Aimee and I are taking the time to enjoy this pregnancy to its fullest, as it is such an amazing gift.
