can you believe it?!

i'm pregnant! i am totally astounded. it happened without any medication - without any medical intervention whatsoever. and on the very first try!

my chart was looking really great, so i was anxious, but i tried not to get my hopes up. i was out with a friend yesterday, and she gave me a test to take when i got home. i took it yesterday afternoon, and adam and i both saw a definite line. faint, but it was there. adam actually went out last night to get another test, just because we were so shocked and unconvinced. that one was faintly positive as well. the tests were two different brands, so it seemed like a sure thing. but although i know its very early and totally normal for the line to be faint, i was still worried about the whole "is it a line? isn't it a line?" thing. so sophie and i went out to the store today to get a digital test. i figured that one would be obvious one way or the other - and it sure was!

i am still in total shock. adam and i talked a lot after we went to bed last night. its a really overwhelming feeling, to be sure. we wonder if we'll be able to do it; if we'll be able to handle two kids under the age of two and give them both everything they need. we wonder if this pregnancy will even stick. we had two miscarriages before sophie, so the odds aren't exactly in our favor. however, everything else seems to be different this time around, so maybe our luck has changed. we are both incredibly nervous, but so thrilled.

its hard that we can't see a doctor right away, like we were able to with sophie. besides the fact that we don't have insurance for another month, the only reason we were seen so early last time is because i was on fertility medication and needed to be monitored more closely early on. even if i called for an appointment now, since there is no reason for me to be seen yet, i wouldn't get an appointment for at least another month. we were spoiled last time, getting several early ultrasounds and getting the reassurance of seeing our little bean growing away in there. of course, the trade-off of not having to go through all of the meds and such is totally worth it. these four weeks will fly by and we'll be in the doctor's office before we know it.

for now, i'm just trying to let it soak in. it doesn't feel real quite yet. but man, it is exciting!
